Bio
Mick Victor's emerging success in the art world has been considerable. In 2015, he captured and produced the five featured story portraits for The Museum of Latin American Art in the THEA award winning "Transformations." In 2016, he produced "Acrylics on Glass," for the LA POP Gallery and in 2017 worked with Environ Architecture for the branding and visuals for "Think Here," a commercial building by Joon Choi. In 2020, he curated “Photovarious," 9 artists and 35 works that clearly stretched the boundaries of the contemporary photography medium.
In 2019 and 2021 he spent extended stays in Paris for personal solo work, a gallery exhibition and collaborative work with a private Marais based painting and sculpture guild and was subsequently offered a residency at Monet's Gardens in Giverny, France. In 2024 Mick successfully exhibited his work for two noted Saatchi exhibitions at the Barker Hanger in Santa Monica, CA and in the Spring of 2025 he introduced ”The Tea Papers” at a noted solo gallery show in Santa Barbara, CA. He will introduce 10 new works in the Fall of 2026 in Santa Monica for Saatchi. His studio practice is in a 1200 Sq ft space in Los Angeles where he works on both private and commercial projects.

Artist Statement
I approach my work using a variety of different processes, starting points and materials. I see oils, acrylics, paper, canvas, pencils, charcoal, the camera and a host of objects around me in the studio not as single function tools but more as a collective and often random means of developing the visual story I'm trying to tell.
My visual preferences for colors, textures and individual shapes are based almost entirely on how well I imagine they might work together in a larger piece to create not simply the sum of its parts, but a work that finds a voice of its own. Where they are eventually placed and how they interact with each other is guided in part, by knowing they have their own internal narrative and ultimately want to occupy some position or space because of it.
I love a big blue open sky, the bold and pushy shapes of buildings, the chaos of anything with no obvious order, random collisions of color, beautiful and curious faces, tiny things that whisper in my garden... and I am continually fascinated by how the world entirely on its own, is painting an endless number of compositions around me everyday.

PHOTOVARIOUS
The unique ability to see differently, to perceive or assign an image or likeness with seemingly different properties, attributes or interpretations, resulting in something wholly independent of another.
When I was asked to curate a photography show for the Long Beach Creative Group I knew right away I didn’t want to do a standard legacy show where we simply invited all the regular experienced photo people in the region to show their best shots.
Photography and photo imaging is changing so much and I wanted to bring together a collection of artists who today are actively breaking the boundaries in their process, approaching the camera and its role in photo imaging in new and compelling ways. It was also essential the work from each artist was presented extremely well and professionally produced with quality materials.
We had over 60 qualified submissions and in choosing the 9 artists we would subsequently exhibit, I wanted to make sure that collectively the art in the gallery was engaging to those who came to visit, that it spoke clearly and could draw the viewer in more closely.
Even in the 2020 pandemic, with the gallery open by appointment only the show was well attended. We were able to have small private gatherings for each of the artists and the work sold very well. On the strength of the work presented, some artists even sold work from their personal catalog beyond the exhibit itself.
Currently there are plans to produce a new PHOTOVARIOUS Exhibit in 2026.
